Resident poet

Closer to your event

Are you organizing a conference, inspiration session, symposium or meeting with speakers? As a house poet, Amber-Helena Reisig summarizes the essence of your event and the message of your speakers in a live-written poem. During the event she listens attentively and shapes the personal poem with full attention and care. During meetings a lot happens, a lot is said. Through poetry, Amber-Helena brings back the memorable moments, with personal reflections and a meaningful message. A seasoned spoken word artist, she closes the day with a performance that leaves a lasting impression on those in attendance.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • A poet associated with an organisation, company or media platform. For instance, Nico Dijkshoorn at DWDD or Rico Verhoeven at Makkelijk Scoren (VPRO). However, this engagement can also be a one-off: during an event. Other terms: event poet, quick poet or festival poet.

  • Before the event, we review the program together: who the speakers are, the theme of the day, and what elements you’d like to see reflected in the poem. I make sure to read up in advance, but the real magic happens during the event itself. I write the poem on the spot, from beginning to end, by carefully absorbing what is said and letting inspiration guide me. By the end of the event, the poem is ready—just in time for my performance.

  • I have over fifteen years of experience as a poet and performer and am frequently asked to be a resident poet by municipalities, provinces, other government agencies, political parties, educational institutions and corporations.

  • Writing and performing a poem within a few hours—or sometimes just an hour—is always a thrilling experience. The tension adds to the excitement, making the process enjoyable. Each time, I'm surprised by the result, as I let the discussions during the event fully guide my creativity.

  • Of course! After my performance, I will review the poem one last time and email it to you immediately. This way, you can share it with your guests the same day. The poem is often shared on social media or included in the event's report. Sometimes, a video of the poem is made, or it is printed on a poster as a keepsake of the event.
