we did not yet see things very clearly back then

there was the fear of the sun that would

swallow the earth four billion years from now and

we knew that dinosaurs had existed longer

than humans have, it kept the world in check

we could pull ourselves along, from fear to fear

like imagining pulling the shore towards you

on a ferry, determining your coordinates based on

reclaimed islands full of apartment buildings and hotels

I just wish someone had warned me

about the immeasurability of days, wild but

void gestures, guilt and resentment, the realisation

of being one of the others, pointless but full of mortal dread:

that you will simply lie in bed with still everything to fear

What I do

  • I write short stories and poetry for various literary publications, both independently and upon request. My pieces have been published across numerous literary platforms. With experience as a performer, I present my own work at events ranging from school lectures to poetry slams at festivals. My work may be quite serious, but my readings often contain a humorous quip.

  • A poet at your event, such as a conference, inspiration session, or symposium? Like Nico Dijkshoorn, but with a twist? I am highly experienced in (live) crafting thematic poems, based on lectures, talks, and brainstorming sessions. Always with a reflective touch. Whenever possible, I also weave in personal experiences.
