we did not yet see things very clearly back then
there was the fear of the sun that would
swallow the earth four billion years from now and
we knew that dinosaurs had existed longer
than humans have, it kept the world in check
we could pull ourselves along, from fear to fear
like imagining pulling the shore towards you
on a ferry, determining your coordinates based on
reclaimed islands full of apartment buildings and hotels
I just wish someone had warned me
about the immeasurability of days, wild but
void gestures, guilt and resentment, the realisation
of being one of the others, pointless but full of mortal dread:
that you will simply lie in bed with still everything to fear

What I do
-
I write short stories and poetry for various literary publications, both independently and upon request. My pieces have been published across numerous literary platforms. With experience as a performer, I present my own work at events ranging from school lectures to poetry slams at festivals. My work may be quite serious, but my readings often contain a humorous quip. -
A poet at your event, such as a conference, inspiration session, or symposium? Like Nico Dijkshoorn, but with a twist? I am highly experienced in (live) crafting thematic poems, based on lectures, talks, and brainstorming sessions. Always with a reflective touch. Whenever possible, I also weave in personal experiences.
-
Engaging with language in an exciting way? Book a workshop on creative writing (poetry, prose, drama), spoken word, and/or performance. As a trained educator, I offer workshops to both inexperienced and experienced writers of all ages, available for schools, festivals, and corporate settings. Always tailored to your specific needs.
-
Are you looking for a dynamic moderator for your panel discussion? A speaker on topics like creativity or inclusion? Or would you like an enthusiastic presenter to seamlessly guide your program? I'm available for these roles too, and I'm eager to help!
-
Would you like to organise a literary event or an event with lectures within one of my areas of interest? I have plenty of experience in programming and event organisation, as well as a relevant network in the region.
